Welcome to the Historic Max Wilhelm "Willie" Fischer Haus, located in the Texas Hill Country between Blanco and Wimberley just north of Canyon Lake.

We have enjoyed sharing this beautiful historic home over the past couple of decades with many folks. We are no longer providing rentals and are working to continue to preserve the historic features of the Haus and property.  Many thanks to all for a wonderful 18 years.  We do plan to continue to share this property through our Haus Concerts so be sure to check in and see what we have cookin' in 2018.

In June of 2017, the United States Department of the Interior, National Park Service listed Fischer on it's National Register of Historic Places to include this homestead, Fischer Hall & Bowling Club, Fischer Store and multiple other buildings that still remain in the area for the past 100 years plus.

The Willie Fischer Homestead is located in the central core of the Historic Fischer community. Although it's main use was for agricultural the first 2 stores were built on this homestead.  The final store was built next door and is currently open on Saturday's and Sunday's for a view into the History of Fischer and your shopping pleasure.  This property consists of the main house  (all original cypress siding, long leaf yellow pine flooring, etc. and wash house with cypress siding and beaded board walls and wood flooring, Grist Mill (original corrugated metal siding, beaded board walls and ceiling inside along with wood flooring and multiple agricultural buildings including the Barns (consisting of their original corrugated metal roof and cypress exterior planks), Pens, fencing and a wood and stone loading chute.

Hermann Fischer is the town's namesake. Settled in the early 1850s, the town had originally been called Fischer's Store. The log trading post served the settlers between Blanco and New Braunfels along the mountain ridge that is known as the Devil's Backbone.

A post office was granted in 1876 and in 1888 the Fischer Store School replaced an earlier school called Potters Creek. Fischer's Store became Fischer Store in 1894 at the request of the postal authorities. In 1950 it was officially shortened to simply Fischer, Texas.
